Dennis Toman is the founder of The Elderlaw Firm in Greensboro, North Carolina. Dennis founded The Elderlaw Firm so that local seniors and boomers could have a trustworthy guide to planning ahead and navigating the elder care journey, for themselves and their loved ones.
The law firm focuses exclusively on elder law estate planning. As Dennis says, “Our practice solves the specific problems of boomers and seniors found at the intersection of estate planning, senior care, and retirement finances. By combining legal, financial and health care answers into one plan, families can gain greater peace of mind and protect against the devastatingly high cost of long-term care.”
Dennis is a nationally recognized Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA). He also is the first lawyer in North Carolina to be recognized as a Board Certified Specialist in both Estate Planning and Elder Law by the North Carolina State Bar. Dennis is a member of the invitation-only Council of Advanced Practitioners (CAP). He is a Past Chair of the Elder Law and Special Needs Council of the North Carolina Bar Association. He is a frequent speaker on the topics of Elder Law and Estate Planning. As a VA accredited attorney, he assists with Veterans pension benefits for war time veterans and spouses of war time Veterans.
Dennis met his wife Lynne when they were in 7th grade. But they didn’t start dating until after high school. (He admits that was his fault!) They have two sons, who are grown and on their own. They spend much of their spare time with their two therapy dogs, who are specially trained to be with both children and seniors and visit schools as well as nursing homes and memory care communities.
One of the key missions of The Elderlaw Firm is to provide quality education to local families. To further this mission, Dennis has authored many articles and guides, and he is a co-author of “Protect Your Family: Don’t Write a Blank Check to the Nursing Home.”
